Performance rehabilitation and regenerative medicine is an old approach to health and wellbeing. Elements of such treatments were recorded as far back as 400BC among ancient societies. For example, there are records of ancient doctors using water, cold, light and massage to treat illnesses and injuries. These societies ranged from the ancient Egyptian kingdoms to the Greek civilization city-states. Indeed, the use of water and steam for rejuvenation was so common among ancient societies that public baths and steam houses were a common feature in their cities.
